Mrs Okafor said that the shrine had a gory history of receiving human beings and twins as sacrifices before the coming of missionaries.
According to her, her stepson, Okafor Ikechukwu, until the incident, was not only a well known youth activist in the community, but also a well behaved young man.
Mrs Okafor claimed that some elements within the community wanted the young man dead by all means. According to her, the people insisted that wherever he is seen within the community, Anambra State or Nigeria, he will be killed. She said that “this same evil people went to the police and laid a false charge against him that he formed a dangerous terrorists group that wanted to burn down the community; a false claim that prompted the police to believe that my stepson and his friends were dangerous criminals.
Efforts made by our correspondent to get the reaction of police on the matter was not successful; but a discreet police source told newsmen that although they are aware of the case, yet, it was not reported to them when it occurred; and therefore, would not do anything about it since the incident occurred about 6 years ago.
