Alleged Murder in Nnewi: Police Commissioner Sues for Calm, Assures Justice

The Anambra State Police Command said its investigating a tragic incident that occurred on April 15, 2025, at Ibeto junction, Nnewi, where a security operative allegedly shot and killed a lady named Chiamaka Okeke. Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, through the the command's PPRO SP Ikenga Tochukwu has appealed for calm and assured the public that the command is working with the relevant security outfit to identify the suspect and ensure justice is served.  According to reports, the incident happened when a security operative, reportedly from the Operation Udo Ga – Achi security outfit, fired shots to clear traffic for their patrol vehicle, tragically hitting and killing Chiamaka Okeke. Police Crack Down on Exploitation of Sick Persons in Anambra

A joint security team comprising police officers from Oba Divisional Police Headquarters and Anambra Vigilante Operatives has arrested six suspects accused of hiring sick individuals to beg for alms in Oba. The suspects, aged between 27 and 38 years, were apprehended on April 16, 2025, at an uncompleted building in Isu village. The arrested suspects include, Doris Basil, 28 years old, female, Peter Ezedike, 38 years old, male, Susan Monday, 27 years old, female, Ogechi Okoro, 27 years old, female, Solomon Sunday, 29 years old, malez Kenneth Achi, 29 years old, male The operatives recovered six mobile phones and ₦82,400 in cash. Anambra Police Command Launches Operation Udo Ga Chi to Combat Kidnapping

The Anambra State Police Command has launched Operation Udo Ga Chi, a joint security initiative aimed at eradicating kidnapping in the state. Following the launch the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has set up a monitoring team to ensure operatives comply with operational orders and maintain civility. The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has commended the ICT staff of the school for their dedication, technical support, and commitment to ensuring a smooth examination process. Oko Poly Inaugurates Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee; Charges Members on Fairness

Federal Polytechnic, Oko, has taken a significant step towards maintaining discipline and fairness within its ranks.  Towards this end, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Irene Chioma Awuzi, inaugurated the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee in the institution. She charged the committee members to discharge their duties with commitment and impartiality. In a remarkable turnaround, the table water factory at Federal Polytechnic, Oko, has resumed full production, thanks to the swift intervention of the institution's Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie. Dr. Awuzie, who took office just a month ago, wasted no time in addressing the factory's long-standing logistics issues, which had left it dormant for years. The Anambra State Police Command has launched a new operation, "Operation Udo Ga Chi," aimed at eradicating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
