Anambra Police Launch Manhunt for Escaped Murder Suspects

The Anambra State Police Command has activated an operational plan to re-arrest two suspects who escaped while in custody for the murder of Late Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha 1 Constituency. According to Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects fled during an operation to arrest a receiver of stolen goods and recover vehicles linked to the crime . The receiver was arrested, and two stolen vehicles were recovered, but the suspects managed to escape. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has deployed human, operational, and intelligence assets to ensure the suspects are re-arrested and justice is served.  Disciplinary action will also be taken against officers found culpable in the escape. The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has described as unacceptable the escape of arrested suspects involved in the murder of Anambra lawmaker, Hon. According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, the command has deployed its human, operational, and intelligence assets to ensure the suspects are re-arrested and brought to justice. The CP also directed immediate disciplinary action against the officers responsible for the suspects' escape.
