The Anambra State Police Command has activated an operational plan to re-arrest two suspects who escaped while in custody for the murder of Late Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha 1 Constituency. According to Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects fled during an operation to arrest a receiver of stolen goods and recover vehicles linked to the crime . The receiver was arrested, and two stolen vehicles were recovered, but the suspects managed to escape. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has deployed human, operational, and intelligence assets to ensure the suspects are re-arrested and justice is served. Disciplinary action will also be taken against officers found culpable in the escape. The police have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down the escaped suspects and bring them to justice.
