YPP, LP, PDP candidates in Nnewi North Local Government Area openly declared that the local government election on Saturday was an electoral fraud following what majority of the electorate dismissed as monumental disenfranchisement. The candidates called for immediate cancellation of the exercise for a proper election to be conducted. The electorate decried that Nnewi community was disappointed over the conduct of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) in discharging its duties as voters who turned out enmass to vote were denied the right to exercise their franchise. The Anambra Police have once more made significant strides in their ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality in the state. Recently, they successfully intercepted a suspect carrying three bags of garri (cassava flakes) concealing a large quantity of gunpowder, intended for production of improvised explosives. The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was en route to a criminal camp when he was apprehended. The Comman's PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a press release made available to Journalists in Awka said that the criminal was caught during a routine patrol in Aguata on September 22, 2024.
