The Commissioner of Police, Anambra police command, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has today 24/5/2024 activated onslaught Operations on the abductors of Fr. Basil Gbuzuo and Prof. Sydney Onyeagu of Unizik after their release by the kidnappers unhurt.  On a press release made available in the capital of Awka Anambra state, the Police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said that "The CP assures that the Command is in high spirits and already leveraging on  information in this regard especially to frustrate criminal intentions of nonstate actors and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the State." The Anambra Police Command has recorded another major milestone with the rescue of a kidnap victim yesterday in Aguata LGA of the state.  The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a press release, made available to this newspaper. He said that, officers of the command responded swiftly when they got a report at about 4:30 pm on 22/5/2024 of the abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA. He said that during the hot chase by the Police team, the criminals shoved the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and drove off, while the Police in Aguata in a hot chase recovered his vehicle, a sky blue Toyota Camry.  He commended the technology-driven and rejigged personnel and operational positioning of the anti-crime approach of the Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam who resumed recently in Anambra, which he said has continued to thwart criminal endeavors of gunmen in the state....

Anambra State Police has frowned at a publication titled fear in Anambra Community over missing 19 rifles, which the command has described as a publication to promote personal agenda and seek attention. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has supervised the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and UTEL Ltd. to connect Nigerians to foreign jobs in Kuwait, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Scandinavian countries, among others. …Meeting to reconvene today …CDWR calls for mass action The tripartite minimum wage negotiation meeting involving Organised Labour, the federal and state governments, and the Organized Private Sector, OPS, yesterday ended in deadlock, following Labour’s dismissal of the government’s N54,000 offer as expected. Labour leaders also lamented the absence of state governors in the meeting to present their offers, as their representatives said they had no mandate. However, it was gathered that the meeting will reconvene today by 4 pm.
