SOLUDO CALLS FOR NNAMDI KANU'S UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE, OFFERS TO STAND SURETY

By Christian ABURIME    Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been in detention with the Federal Government of Nigeria  Governor Soludo who made the demand during the APGA Campaign kick-off in Awka, specifically appealed to the Federal Government to  release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. Governor Soludo went further to assert that if the detained IPOB leader cannot be released unconditionally, he should be released to him saying he is ready to stand surety for him. "I am making a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. Troops Kill 2, Rescue 30 Kidnap Victims Along Nasarawa, Abuja Boundaries

A combined team of Nigerian Army Guards Brigade and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have killed two bandits and rescued 30 kidnap victims during a raid on a kidnappers’ enclave in the general area of Idu, Chikara along the boundaries of Toto local government area of Nasarawa State and Abaji in  FCT and Koton Karfe Kogi State. A statement by the assistant director, Army Public Relations Guards Brigade, Captain Godfrey Abakpa, said the operation was carried out by the 177 Guards Battalion in conjunction with troops of Operation Wild Stroke and the CJTF as part of the Guards Brigade’s responsibility to ensure adequate security within its area of responsibility and to check kidnapping in the FCT and neighbouring states. He said during the joint operation, the troops with subdued the bandits and neutralized two of them while several others escaped with gunshot wounds. 2023 Elections: Lagos, Kano Top As INEC Releases Final Voter Register

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of registered voters for the 2023 general election. In the list made available to political parties yesterday, Lagos State has the highest number of registered voters with 7,060,195, followed by Kano State with 5,921,370. The list showed that INEC registered 93, 469,008 voters for the general polls. The 93,469,008 registered Nigerians will decide who will become the next president of Nigeria among candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu; People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party, Peter Obi and candidates of other parties in the 2023 presidential election. In direct response to the alarm raised by the country’s electoral umpire about an impending cancellation of the forthcoming general election on grounds of insecurity, the federal government has calmed frayed nerves, saying there is no threat to the polls. Categorically, the government said the elections will hold as planned, and there is nothing to suggest otherwise. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Monday warned that the 2023 general election, which is less than two months away, faces a serious threat of cancellation if the wave of insecurity in parts of the country fails to improve. The commission’s warning came on the day it reported that about one week after the expiration of the December 31, 2022 deadline to end all forms of terrorist criminality, attacks have persisted. 2023: INEC raises alarm of possible cancellation, postponement of polls

INEC has lamented the growing wave of election-related insecurity across the country, expressing fears that the trend if not checkmated, could lead to the cancellation or postponement of the forthcoming polls. Noting that the development could hinder declaration of elections results and precipitate constitutional crisis, the electoral umpire called for concerted efforts to stem the tide of violence.
