NRM MOBILISES TO CHALLENGE APGA’S VICTORY IN IDEMILI NORTH CONSTITUENCY

The National Rescue Movement, NRM, one of the political parties that participated in the March 9, 2019 House of Assembly elections in Anambra State, said it has mobilised 15 lawyers to challenge the declaration of candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, as winner of the Idemili North State Constituency election in the state. Madam Elizabeth Okafor, a 90 year-old woman from Ebenebe community, Awka North LGA of Anambra State is crying to whoever that cares to help her locate her only stepson, Mr. Okafor Ikechukwu, who got missing since September 17th, 2013, after he was attacked with his Friends, Daniel Nwoye, Felix Nwoye, and Nonso Obiagu by villagers when they were conducting  night prayers in their house, based on the allegation  that they were planning to destroy a notable shrine in their community. Mrs Okafor said that the shrine had a gory  history of receiving human beings and twins as sacrifices before the coming of missionaries. FG inaugurates Presidential Inauguration C’ttee

The Federal Government has inaugurated the inter-ministerial Presidential Inauguration Committee with a view to coordinating activities leading to the inauguration of the president on May 29. Inaugurating the committee Thursday in Abuja, Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF recalled that about four years ago, “the Buhari Administration came on board with the promise of Change built on economy, security and anti-corruption. The Government has since 2015 committed itself to working hard to achieve sustainable economic growth, as well as a secure and corruption free nation”. The current governor of Imo state and the senator elect in the just concluded National Assembly election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr Rochas Okorocha, Wednesday asked the commission to hand him over his certificate, noting that the commission cannot seize his certificate because of a mere petition against him. Okorocha made this known when some of his supporters marched to the government house to protest. Recall that INEC removed his name from the list of senators-elect who will receive their various certificates on Thursday. The commission argued that the governor was declared winner under duress. Feb. 23: INEC confirms irregularities in Imo polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Imo State has admitted that the presidential and national assembly elections in the state were fraught with irregularities and expressed regret over the challenges that almost marred the polls. Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC of the state, Prof. Francis Ezeonu made the commission’s position known in the state, yesterday at the Imo INEC Interactive Meeting with Stakeholders in Owerri, the state capital. Disclosing that there were a few hitches that impeded the timely deployment of materials on the Election Day to some areas, Prof. Ezeonu stressed that the meeting created a forum for the commission to review what happened on the Feb. 23 elections across the state.
