The Acting Chairman of the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, was for the second time in three months, rejected by the Senate, yesterday, as the upper chamber refused to confirm him as the substantive chairman of the anti- graft agency after screening him for about one hour forty minutes. The lawmakers anchored their decision on the Department of State Service, DSS report on Magu and his poor performance at the screening. They consequently, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to forward a fresh nomination for the prime anti-corruption post. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dashed the hopes of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Anambra Central senatorial district election as it dismissed the suit by Sharon Ikeazor seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to accept her as a substitute for Dr Chris Ngige. Ikeazor had dragged INEC before Justice Anwuli Chikere, asking the court to compel the electoral umpire to accept her as the candidate of the party in place of Ngige who has withdrawn from the election. However, delivering judgment on, Justice Chikere held that the time for political parties to nominate candidates for elective position in respect of the 2015 elections had elapsed. The crisis in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, continued yesterday, with the two key actors, Chairman of the national caretaker committee of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, accusing each other of working against efforts at restoring peace. Senator Makarfi, who also disclosed that the party was in alliance with 15 other political parties ahead 2019, also faulted the recommendations of the Governor Seriake Dickson’s committee which said the party should hold it’s convention in June. Last week, I received in my Abuja home today, the CAF Presidential aspirant and President of Madagascar Football Association, Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, in furtherance of his wide consultations and the attendant campaign geared towards the forthcoming CAF Presidential election in Addis Ababa on thr 16th of March, 2017. Madam Maudline Uche Ikejiaku (Nee Okoli) Okwu N’Ihu Eriku has been laid to rest in her husband’s country home in Ezekwuabor, Otolo Nnewi, in Nnewi North L.G.A of Anambra state. Madam Maduline while alive lived a life that pleased God and humanity, as she was unassuming in nature, and down to earth in all her dealings with her follow human beings. She supported her husband in all his endeavors, while alive,, which made it possible for her disposition at forgiving and forgetting easily the wrongs done to her. She as well showed undiluted love to her sister, who was the second wife to her husband. Though she lost all her five children, that did not stop her from loving her sister’s children, whom she took as her own children. Late Mrs. Elizabeth Udubeke Ikegwuonu( Nee Offor) Aka Arunne, has answered the heavenly call of glory, as she has joined the saints in heaven at the ripe age of 90 years. Late Mrs. Elizabeth Ikegwuonu was born in 1926 into the family of Mr. & Mrs Offor of Uru in Umudim Nnewi. While alive, she was a hard working woman, who had absolute faith in God, as she humbled herself and trusted in God in all things, which earned her the nickname ( God E dey) meaning God exisits & is alive in all situations. It was all smiles and admiration for Ichie Kenneth Maduakor for his  magnanimity and love for the people of Nnewi, as he opened another filling station along Igwe Orizu road in Nnewi. While opening the filling station, Ichie Maduakor said, that this is another measure of his company  in helping government create employment in the country. He used the opportunity to distribute free 30,000 liters of combined products, ranging from PMS, DPK and AGO. He thanked his customers who have kept hope alive by been steadfast and dedicated. The Fairly Used and New Motorcycle dealers association(FUNMDA) in Nnewi was thrown into panic as its chairman, Sir Victor Oguama, was reported to have died, without having any aliment last Friday morning, which sent shivers down the spine of fellow traders in the market. In an emergency meeting conducted on Monday morning to officially inform traders in the market of the development, Chief Dozie Akudolu (Iroko) the Vice Chairman of South East Amalgamated traders association  said that the constitution  of FUNMDA, abhors vacuum, and that,  was what necessitated the meeting.
