In a daring operation, a joint security team comprising the Police, Military, and Ihiala Vigilante intercepted a suspicious black shuttle bus with registration number RSH 255MS in Ihiala, Anambra State, on the evening of March 24, 2025.
In a statement by the state public relations officer SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said that as the team attempted to stop the vehicle, the armed occupants opened fire, prompting a gun duel. The joint security team successfully demobilized one of the assailants, while four others escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds.
Upon searching the vehicle, the operatives found a blindfolded victim, suspected to have been kidnapped, tied up and gagged. The victim was rescued, given first aid, and debriefed by the Police.
The vehicle was recovered, and the joint security team is still on the hunt for the fleeing suspects. The Anambra State Police Command has urged proprietors of private and public hospitals to report any individuals presented with bullet wounds or suspicious injuries to the nearest police station.
This operation demonstrates the Command's commitment to maintaining security dominance through sustained patrols and targeted security operations in the state.
