Anambra Police Record Breakthroughs, Promises Improved Security

The Anambra State Police Command has achieved significant breakthroughs in its ongoing security operational review and safety emplacement, thanks to the efforts of Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.

In a series of successful operations, the police have arrested a total of five suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms. The suspects were apprehended in separate operations, with one locally made Beretta pistol and a suspected stolen vehicle recovered.
On February 22, 2025, police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad raided a criminal hideout in Igbariam, arresting three suspects: Miracle Chukwunoso, Chinweze Charles, and Bonaventure Chigozie. The suspects, all males between 20 and 26 years old, were positively identified by victims who were attacked and dispossessed of their personal belongings.

In another operation on February 16, 2025, police operatives attached to the 3-3 Police Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to a kidnap incident, rescuing the victim and arresting two suspects. The operatives also recovered a suspected stolen vehicle, an ash-colored Toyota Corolla, from a mechanic workshop in the 3-3 area.
According to the victim, the armed men withdrew over N1 million from his account during his captivity and dispossessed him of his two phones valued at N820,000.

The Anambra State Police Command has assured that all suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. These breakthroughs demonstrate the command's commitment to improving safety and security in Anambra State.
