Setting the Record Straight: On the Misinformation About Ozo Jeff Nweke & Big Ben's Kidnap

A recent publication on the ongoing case involving Ozo Jeff Nweke, who has been accused of masterminding the kidnap of Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama (Big Ben) has brought out so many lies on what actually happened. However, it is essential to set the record straight.

So far, security agencies have not indicted Ozo Jeff Nweke in connection with the kidnapping of Big Ben. Despite this, accusations persist, with some alleging that he masterminded the crime. Notably, the Department of State Services (DSS) has not released any official statements regarding their investigation, nor have they confirmed the existence of any CCTV footage related to the case.

It is also important to clarify that the individuals behind these publications are not members of Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama’s family. Instead, they have ties to Enugu Agidi, a group that has been in conflict with Ozo Jeff Nweke over his efforts to reclaim Awka land, which they allegedly intend to grab.

Contrary to claims that Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama was kidnapped from Ozo Jeff Nweke’s office, evidence suggests otherwise. In fact, Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama had requested a meeting with Ozo Jeff Nweke to discuss an outstanding debt of over ₦400 million related to a land transaction . A debt Ezeama had been repaying in installments. Also, Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama and  Ozo Jeff Nweke have known each other since 2019 and maintained a good business relationship.

Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama had even visited Nweke’s home on several occasions, both late at night and early in the morning.

After their meeting on the day in question, Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama returned to Maxbe Hotel, where he was lodged, and was kidnapped later that same day.

It was reported that the kidnappers allegedly demanded a ₦50 million ransom. If Ozo Jeff Nweke was truly involved in the kidnapping, why would he settle for a ransom significantly lower than the ₦400 million debt he was owed? The kidnapping of Ezeama would, in fact, make it harder for Nweke to recover his money, so what does he stand to gain? Will he prefer 50million naira to the N400 million he was owed.

Additionally, Ozo Jeff Nweke is always accompanied by eight armed police and civil defense security aides assigned to him, and they were on duty that day. If the CCTV footage truly showed Benjamin Izuchukwu Ezeama entering Nweke’s office without leaving, why haven’t the DSS arrested or questioned these security aides?

Furthermore, Nweke’s office remains open, if such footage existed, why hasn’t the DSS raided or sealed the premises?

Another critical question that should asked is, why is the publisher of the CCTV footage story hiding his identity? If the DSS has not made an official statement, where is this publisher getting their evidence? The relentless effort to pin the kidnapping on Ozo Jeff Nweke without verifiable proof raises suspicions that the publisher may have ulterior motives or inside knowledge of the crime.

Given the facts, it appears that the accusations against Ozo Jeff Nweke are baseless. The ongoing smear campaign is not only unfounded but deeply unfortunate, tarnishing the reputation of an individual without credible evidence.
