APC Anambra: Unity is Strength, But Can They Put Aside Their Differences?

By Chigozie Igbo Jr

The outcome of APC Anambra meeting today at their new state secretariat in Awka Anambra state,  indeed left a sour taste to many, especially those who truly know and understand, what the term "party" means. A political party is supposed to be a meeting and melting point, where ideas are harnessed and cross fertilized for positive results. But unfortunately, the main actors in the All Progressive Congress Anambra Chapter  took to long walk away from what they were supposed to pursue, and started chasing shadows, as if there was beef, already on going within.

A lesson that togetherness is what is needed to get the party to Agu Awka was learnt the hard way today. The looks on the faces of the National Chairman and members of the NWC of APC, reminded me that an Ifeanyi Ubah being around would have done better. May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.
The charade that was displayed by these aspirants, who are supposed to be role models, visibly got even the National Working Committee of the party surprised. The National Chairman Alhaji Abulahi Ganduje also was short of words, reason he advised they stick together to defeat APGA and the Prof Charles Soludo government.

Truly, the APC Anambra truly lost a hero, who would have been a uniting force in the person of Late Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. The meeting also served as a reminder of the party's loss of a unifying figure, Late Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. With the APC Anambra's current display of disunity, reclaiming Agu Awka may prove to be a daunting task. As Ganduje aptly put it, failure to close ranks will only lead to another disappointing outcome.

With what was displayed today at the opening of the APC  secretariat in Awka, getting a hold of Agu Awka will be another mirage in wanting. Just like the National Chairman said, if they don't close ranks and work together, it will be another jamboree waiting to happen. The chairman's warning was apt, given the party's history of internal conflicts, which will never take them anywhere.

To wrestle power from an incumbent who is determined to consolidate on his achievements thus far, the APC in Anambra will need to show working, and unfortunately the first outing after the demise of Senator Ubah that would have been used to shore up the party's chances in the state was messed up.

I ask again, unity is strength, but Can the APC in Anambra, put aside their differences for a common cause? Only time will tell. Ahead of the April 5th 2025 proposed date for the primaries of the party, what one expects from the party is to fix their house, that is if they are ready for the enormous task ahead. Only time will tell.

#Watchvideo : SECURITY FORCES BURST THE CAMP OF UNKNOWN GUNMEN IN AKOKWA

Security Forces in the state through a coordinated intelligence report has bursted the camp of the unknown gunmen at Akokwa, Arondizuogu after a long gun duel which resulted to the death of some of the criminals and others arrested. These criminal elements have been known to be behind several attacks in the state such as the killing of police men in Mbaise, Aba Branch in Ehime Mbano, burning down of police stations, attack and attempted kidnapping of former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, abduction of Miss.
