The Labour Party in Anambra State has accused ANSIEC for publishing the names of members of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as it’s candidates for the forthcoming local government election in the state.  The party in a press conference held at Awka  on Saturday said they neither sold forms for the local government election, and also did not conduct any primary elections to nominate candidates, and wondered where the names published by ANSIEC came from.  The state publicity secretary of the party, Engr Theo Egbe who addressed journalists at the state party secretariat stressed that the election which is scheduled for September 28 is a mere jamboree.  He said: “They have conducted the elections in their rooms and waiting to announce the results, it's indeed quite unfortunate that they came up with the list of APGA members as our members” The state secretary of the party, Barr Okoli Akirika who also spoke to journalists said: “During the 2023 election...

BY RAYMOND OZOJI, Awka  Barely three weeks to the rescue of two siblings from kidnappers and recovery of stolen vehicles around Nkwelle-Ezunaka axis of Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) has rescued another kidnap victim along Nri-Enugwu-Ukwu road between Anaocha and Njikoka Local Government Areas of the state.  Disclosing the rescue operation to our correspondent,  Southeast Zonal Commander of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) ACG Mark Okemefuna Okonkwo, said hunters received a distress call at 20:00 hours on Sunday 8th September from a passer-by of some people forcing someone into a vehicle along the aforementioned route.  Okonkwo said he immediately mobilized his men for rescue mission and they followed the direction from the Intel. Operatives of the Department of the State Services have arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero. It was learnt that Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment. The NLC president was billed to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, which begins today. Details and reasons for the arrest are still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
