Don't kill Yourself Because of Christmas and New Year, Chief Maduakor Warms Christins

Notable Evangelist, Chief Kenneth Maduakor, has told Nigerians and Christians in particular, that Christmas and any other Christian or annual festivities are not worth dying for. He warned that the human life is not dependent on any festival, however big or important.

In his Christmas and New Year messages, Chief Maduakor, a former President General of Azia community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, said, "Christmas is a period we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is also a day for all of us who are Christians to rejoice and be glad with him.

"But at the same time, when we are rejoicing, let us remember to help those who have nothing to celebrate with - people who remain hungry when others are celebrating.

"We also need to be careful. Christmas is a normal day like any other day. Christmas is a period of special remembrance, when we meditate on our lives and our relationships with our Lord Jesus Christ. Regrettably, a lot of Christians have reduced Christmas as a day to showcase wealth and affluence. Those things are not necessary.

"Everyday we sleep and wake up is a day of celebration with our Lord Jesus Christ. Since Christmas is a day to remember and celebrate Jesus Christ, we should make it unique by touching lives of the less privileged. We should be careful and remember that after one Christmas and New Year, the coming year's festivities will be scheduled. It must also come and pass also.

"My advice is that Christians should be very careful, and understand that Christmas is a period to remember that our Saviour is born - not a period to showcase affluence and intimidate others by the way we live."

On the reason he spends fortune in helping the poor, Chief Maduakor said that he has been doing so, and would continue to do so because, he wants to have good relationship with God, the creator.

"Jesus Christ said whatever you do to the least of His brothers, you do them to Him. Therefore, you cannot pretend to love God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, when you cannot clothe Him when he is naked, or feed Him when he is hungry.

"In Matthew 7:2, Christ says that the measure you use on others, the same measure will be used for you. Therefore, when you work in the Lord's vineyard by helping the poorest of the poor, God will also work in your own vineyard by solving the problems you cannot solve yourself."
