APGA Celebrates Landmark Victory, Homecoming of Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday 13th December 2024, at its Awka party secretariat in Anambra state, celebrated the homecoming of it's National Chairman, Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, over the Supreme Court's decision to uphold him as the National Chairman of the party, a situation that marked the end to the party's leadership dispute. The ruling is viewed from several quarters as a significant win for democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria, bringing to an end, an age long dispute that would have wrecked the party. 

In his keynote address, the APGA State Chairman, Chief Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, described the homecoming of Barr Sly Ezeokenwa as a celebration of justice, resilience, and the unflinching support of APGA members throughout the country. He lauded Barrister Ezeokenwa's tenacity during the legal battles and also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for standing firmly behind the party and its ideals. Obi-Okoye expressed optimism that this victory would energize APGA to achieve greater heights, in future elections in the state.


In his response, the National Chairman of APGA, expressed his profound gratitude to God for the Supreme Court victory, describing it as a triumph for truth and the rule of law. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to Governor Soludo for his leadership strides and steadfastness throughout the legal tussle. He also acknowledged the prayers and contributions of  APGA State Executive, other party organs, and loyal party faithful who stood by him during the challenging period. According to Barrister Ezeokenwa, "the victory is not just for APGA but for Nigeria and Anambra State, as it safeguards the transformative achievements of Governor Soludo."

He however stated that the gubernatorial victory for Governor Soludo would be achieved in all 326 wards in Anambra. The APGA National Chairman also thanked God for his favor towards him, which he said has been evident in all aspects of his administration he said " it's unprecedented in the history of APGA that a BOT member of the party was appointed as a Minister of the Federal Republic and also a APGA dedicated member as the MD/CEO of the South East Development Commission during my tenure which has never happened in the history of APGA."

 He attributed these successes to the leadership of the National Leader of APGA, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who has done everything within his power to see to it that the party remains a force in the political sphere of the country. 

In the same vein, the Deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, in his speech, emphasized that the pivotal role of APGA in transforming Anambra State is evident in the giant strides the administration of Prof Charles Soludo has achieved in a short while in office. He reiterated the government's commitment to sustaining the legacy of progress and good governance under Governor Soludo's leadership while rallying support for the party's vision at the grassroots and national levels.

The event featured speeches from notable personalities, including members of the APGA National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and State Working Committee, who all commended the leadership of Barrister Ezeokenwa and reiterated their commitment to advancing the party's vision.


The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of an award by the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), recognizing Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa as the Political Champion of the Year. The award underscored his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the party's growth.
