As the battle for late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's seat hots up, a youth organization in Anambra State, "Youths For Credible Democrats Of Nigeria" (YCDON), has called on the people of Anambra South senatorial district to send the right person to the senate.
Specifically, the group suggested that Dozie Ikedife jnr, who is vying for the position under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) is the most suitable to fit into the big shoes left by late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, and also offer quality representation that Anambra South and Anambra State are yearning for.
National Coordinator of the youth organization, Prince Okeke Chinemelu Godwin (Esq), made the assertion on Friday, December 20, 2024, while fielding questions from newsmen in Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, during an investiture ceremony organized to initiate prospective youths into the membership, ahead of Anambra 2025 governorship election, and the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
Okeke, who responded to a question thrown at him to suggest the best candidate to fit into Ifeanyi Ubah's shoes, affirmed that among several aspirants contesting from different party platforms, only Ikedife has the right character and charisma to give Anambra South the best representation.
He said, "Dozie Ikedife jnr, with his impressive qualifications, and experience, is the most ideal person to represent Anambra South senatorial district at the national assembly. Hon. Dozie Ikedife Jr., an American-trained accountant, businessman, real estate developer, and politician, embodies excellence, integrity, and a commitment to public service.
"Ikedife has carved a distinguished path in politics and business, leveraging his vast experience and strong values to uplift the people. As an aspirant in the forthcoming by-election for Anambra South senatorial district, Ikedife jnr is well equipped to build on the legacy of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah; while advancing the district's development agenda.
"Dozie grew up in a household where discipline, service, and resilience were deeply ingrained, being the first son of the late Dr. Dozie Ikedife, a globally acclaimed medical doctor, cultural ambassador, and former President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
"Through the Dr. Dozie Ikedife Leadership Foundation, he has awarded scholarships to deserving students in different universities, enabling them to achieve their educational dreams.
"Beyond education, his foundation has supported healthcare outreach programs, provided financial aid to widows, and implemented skill acquisition initiatives for youth and women. Dozie's charitable efforts reflect his belief in creating opportunities for all, ensuring a brighter future for the people of Anambra South.
"Dozie's political career is marked by resilience, strategic acumen, and a deep commitment to his constituents. His leadership roles include serving as a former deputy governorship candidate in Anambra State, among other things.
"Dozie Ikedife jnr, highly educated and a seasoned politician, possesses exceptional qualities that make him an outstanding leader. He is an outspoken advocate. He possesses extensive grassroots network and experience, which make him the right man for the job."
Late Ifeanyi Ubah, according to Okeke, achieved a lot as a senator; including sponsoring a bill for the establishment of the South East Development Commission, which the five Southeastern states are enjoying presently. He, therefore, urged people of Anambra South to look beyond sentiment and moneybags, by electing Senator Ubah's successor in a person that will work - not a bench wormer.
He said, "Dozie Ikedife's resilience, exceptional character and unwavering commitment to leadership, and passion for progress make him a dependable ally and a driving force for positive change. As a respected political leader, his passion for the well-being of others is truly inspiring.
"People of Anambra South are availed the opportunity to choose light over darkness. Everyone is aware that moneybags are also on the parade for the senatorial position, and the temptation to choose money over competence and character is high. Despite that, we believe Anambra South can still do the right thing."
