Anambra Market stakeholders Uncover Illegal Structures in Nkwo Nnewi Market Against Government Directives

A shocking discovery has been made in Nkwo Nnewi Market, Anambra State, where plots to build structures without the approval of Governor Prof. Charles Soludo have been uncovered. Mr. Oliver Nwankwo, Chairman of Anambra Market Stakeholders Forum, revealed this in a press conference he held at Nnewi after visiting the sites of the ongoing construction and proposed structures, stated that his investigation found that some market leaders and stakeholders in Nnewi, have gone ahead to start unauthorized construction which is ongoing in Nnewi Motor Spare Parts, and Motorcycle Spare Parts Nnewi (NASPA) markets, against the directive of Prof Charles Soludo.

Nwankwo expressed concern that over 5,000 shops, worth over 2.4 billion are billed to be built without the governor's knowledge or approval, and this is expected to happen during the Christmas lockdown of the market, especially that of Motor Spare Parts, where the bulk of the shops are, while that of Motorcycle Spare Parts is ongoing.

He said that at Motorcycle Spare Parts, those that came out to counter why he can to verify for himself the claims that the governor approved the building project said that nothing will be done about it as the stakeholders and the governor have agreed on the building project, reason approval was given to them, and that they got the consent of the governor. Mr Nwankwo however said that from his  investigation, that no such thing happened and is a white lie.

He emphasized that this sabotage not only undermines the governor's efforts to develop Anambra State but also deprives the government of potential revenue. Nwankwo therefore called for the government of Prof Charles Soludo to set up a committee to investigate these illegal structures, and one's not approved by the office of the governor for transprancy sake, ensuring that the state government's good work continues unabated.
As these are streams of revenue where Government has being working for Ndi Anambra without borrowing.

He also asked that the government abide by it's earlier directives to stop all building projects in all the markets in Anambra, that did not get approval from the governor as stated in his previous pronouncements.

Furthermore, Mr. Nwankwo said that the local government which is supposed to concentrate on the administration of the local government is busy coming into the market to detect how Anambra state Government owned market should be run. He asked that the governor enforce his earlier directive asking the local government chairman of Nnewi North,Hon Echezona Anazodo to face security, and leave the affairs of the market in the hands of the state government, directly under Prof Charles Soludo.

Chief Nwankwo stressed the importance of not neglecting this discovery, as Nkwo Nnewi Market is one of the largest and most popular markets in Anambra State, known for its automobile spare parts. "The market's growth and development have contributed significantly to the state's economy. However, the unauthorized construction of structures threatens to undermine the market's reputation, infrastructure aesthetics and the state government's efforts to maintain order and generate revenue for projects in the state." He concluded
