Nnewi Synergize with Public Private Development Center to Enhance Citizen Participation

The Public Private Development Center (PPDC), a leading Nigerian NGO, has paid a courtesy visit to the Nnewi Ancient kingdom. This happened today November 2, 2024, at the palace of Igwe Orizu, marking a significant step towards fostering active citizen participation in Nnewi, Anambra State. 

While receiving the  delegation in Nnewi, the Crown Prince of  Nnewi, Barr Obianaefo Orizu, commended the organization for such a proactive and people oriented program and project. But asked them to "show working" In his words, "We have been hearing of this for a very long time, what we need now is action. Not just bringing people together just to make noise."
Prince Obianaefo Orizu further expressed gratitude for PPDC's visit and praised their choice of Nnewi as the 1st pilot phase location. He pledged to work closely with the organization to achieve it's desired outcomes, demonstrating the community's enthusiasm for collaborative progress. He asked them to call on his door whenever they need alliance to make governance work at the grassroots. 

The Deputy Senior Program Officer, Mr. Samuel Akende, while addressing those gathered at Igwe K.ON Orizuo Palace, said, PPDC's commitment to driving meaningful change in Anambra state is paramount as nothing can stop it now, as it's already entrenched in the system and people now know what is happening within them politically. 
He called on everyone to support the dream as its a vision for peaceful coexistence.  He called on people and citizens to look out for what actually happens around them, especially when there are government projects. As that is the only way we can safeguard public private sector collaboration for good governance in Nigeria. 

The program officer, Mrs.  Precious Adigwe, further highlighted the importance of grassroots mobilization in empowering citizens to take active and effective roles in governance, towards driving the economy for it's citizens and the government. She said it's so important as that is the connect between the people and their leaders. 

This synergy between Nnewi community and PPDC sets the stage for transformative citizen participation and governance in Anambra State.

As a social enterprise, PPDC is driven by a passion for transparent and accountable governance, achieved through robust citizen partnerships at the grassroots level. The organization boasts a proven track record of capacity-building workshops and sensitization programs aimed at empowering vulnerable groups and promoting effective governance.

PPDC's strategic focus areas includes, procurement governance, which ensures transparency and accountability in public procurement processes, easy access to Justice, for the promotion, basically aimed at the grassroots, and leveraging digital governance, which  another technology that can enhance governance and citizen engagement adequately.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.  

AMB CHARLES NWONYE ATTENDS HON ERNEST N.OBIORA'S 46TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND 80TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.

  The big celebration started with a High Mass lead by His Lordship Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye at St Vincent De Paul parish Uruagu Nnewi, in the mass were some dignitaries, amongst who were Dr Cletus Ibeto, His Royal Highness Igwe Kenneth Orizu ( Igwe Nnewi), Obi Uruagu his Highness Obi Charles Afamefuna Obi, Obi Nnewichi his Highness Obi George Onyekaba, Hon Chris Azubuogu, and among others. After the mass, the reception which was at Munic Classic Hotel where all dignitaries were entertained, Amb Charles Nwonye stayed briefly and left to visit and consult with the Umuada Anaedo Forum women at Obi Okpunoegbu to present his political ambition to the women.
