NANS Urges Southeast Governors to Overhaul Campus Transportation Scheme


The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on Southeast governors to revamp the transportation system across campuses in the region. This appeal was made by Comrade Charles Ijeomah Obinna, Southeast Coordinator of NANS, Zone F, during a press conference in Awka, Anambra State.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) urged Southeast governors to overhaul the transportation scheme across various campuses in the region. Speaking at a press conference in Awka, Anambra State, Comrade Charles Ijeomah Obinna, emphasized the need for a review to ease students' movement and provide security.
According to Comrade Obinna, "Soludo is a digital governor that introduced a transport scheme, but some exceptions should be made to students." He pleaded with Governor Soludo and other Southeast governors to subsidized students' transportation costs and engage in roundtable discussions to make this possible.

NANS National Director of Sports, Comrade Ernest Obinna Okafor, highlighted the burden of taxes on student buses, urging the state government to renegotiate these taxes. He also called for palliatives to support students, citing the country's economic challenges.
Comrade Obinna further appealed to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to address the deplorable state of roads in the Southeast, which poses a threat to road users, particularly students.

Vice President/Coordinator of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Comrade Umezuluorah Chukwuebuka, advocated for the best candidate to lead the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and encouraged students to apply for Federal Student Loans to avoid dropping out due to financial constraints.

National Vice President of the National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Comrade Obi Christian Chukwunecherem, thanked President Tinubu for approving student loans and urged students to participate in the scheme. Comrade Obinna also commended President Tinubu for approving CNG buses for NANS structures nationwide and appointing Lady Bianca as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
