Igbo Union Yorkshire Set for New Leadership, as Dr. Emmanuel Nwofe Prepares for Inauguration

The Igbo Union Yorkshire (IUY) in the United Kingdom is gearing up for a new era of leadership as Dr. Emmanuel Nwofe, the newly elected President, prepares to take the reins of office. Dr. Nwofe's inauguration is scheduled to take place during the IUY's End of Year Celebrations on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

The election, which took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024, saw Dr. Nwofe emerge victorious, alongside other executive-elect who will form the new administration. The executives-elect were issued with their respective Certificates of Return on the same day, marking the official beginning of their tenure. 
The incoming administration is composed of dedicated individuals who are passionate about serving the IUY community. The executive-elect include Mazi Gabriel Ajoku as Vice President, Mr. Ifeanyi Madu as General Secretary, and Mr. Emeka Ibeh as Financial Secretary,Secretary, Mr Ifeanyi Madu, The Assistant PRO-elect, Mazi Chukwuanu Sunday Okagbue, Anipr,The Publicity Secretary-elect, Miss Nkiruka Iwuanyanwu. among others.
The outgoing President, Chief Charles Ukandu, congratulated the incoming administration and pledged his support for the new leadership. Chief Ukandu reminded the President-elect that his new role is a call to service and prayed for a better IUY.

The Pioneer President of IUY, Chief Servant Emeritus Mathew Nkemdirim, played a vital role in ensuring the successful conduct of the election. Other IUY members have expressed their joy and happiness with the election results, vowing to support the new administration.

Dr. Nwofe has promised to work tirelessly to promote the interests of the IUY community and to build on the achievements of the outgoing administration. He will present his inauguration address on the swearing-in day, outlining his vision for the future of the IUY.

The IUY's End of Year Celebrations, scheduled for December 14, 2024, will be a significant event, marking the beginning of a new era for the organization. The event promises to be a fun-filled evening of music, dance, and cultural celebrations, and will provide an opportunity for members to come together and celebrate the incoming administration.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.  

Prominent Leaders Pay Tribute to Late Sen Ifeanyi Ubah, at Anambra Community Candlelight Procession in Awka
