Dr Chukwudi Ojiakor Commends President Tinubu For Dissolving UNIZIK Governing Council

..... Calls for the immediate arrest of Dr Odoh for forgery

A senior lecturer and consultant anesthesiologist at the Nnamdi Azikikwe University, Awka, Dr Chukwudi Ojiakor, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sacking the governing council of Nnamdi Azikikwe University,Awka, and also for the swift sack of the impostor Vice Chancellor Dr Benard Odoh.

Dr. Chukwudi Ojiakor's commendation of President Tinubu for dissolving the UNIZIK governing council is in response to the controversy surrounding the council's actions, particularly the appointment of Professor Benard Odoh as the university's seventh substantive vice-chancellor, which has been discovered to be flawed abinito.

In an exclusive interview on zoom, Dr Ojiakor said that it was an insult to the university community for such to have happened in the first instance and if allowed to continue, would have been a bad precedence for posterity sake.  He said " it's unfortunate that this was allowed to happen in the first instance. He should be made to face the music of his actions, which includes forgery, which is a crime in Nigeria."

He called on security agencies not to leave any stone unturned in unravelling why and what, gave Dr Odoh the courage and audacity to have dragged the university community this long, in a fight that was not supposed to have happened in the first place. He also asked that he should be tried and if found guilty with his accomplice be jailed to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to tow this line in future. He said " We as a body, I mean members of MDCAN are going to file a law suit against Dr Odoh for presenting forged documents, and for having wasted the time of professionals in a wide goose chase, that turned out to be lies."

Dr Ojiakor further thanked his colleagues especially those from the Medical and Dental Consultants' Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), an affiliate of Nigerian Medical Association, which is the largest specialist medical association in the West African sub-region, with over 2,000 members from teaching and specialist hospitals from all parts of Nigeria, for standing firm throughout the country, ensuring that the shenanigans did not stand.

He also commended ASUU for coming into the fight, which ensured justice was served, a act he said added vigor to the fight. He called on the university community to remain resolute, and committed to excellence which he said is the Hallmark of the academia.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had staged a peaceful protest to stop the selection, alleging that Ambassador Greg Mbadiwe, the Chairman of the University's Governing Council, unfairly imposed a vice-chancellor who was not originally affiliated with UNIZIK.

It's worth noting that there have been reports of crises at UNIZIK, with the senate calling for the dissolution of the governing council due to allegations of bullying and undermining the university's autonomy and academic excellence. The situation highlights the need for good governance and adherence to the rule of law in Nigeria's educational institutions.

Recall, that the federal ministry of education some hours ago sacked the governing council of the university led by Prof Greg Mbadiwe,  and the Vice Chancellor, Dr Benard Odoh. There removal is with immediate effect.
