Unfortunate Nibo Killings: A Mockery of Anambra's Security Architecture

Mr Valentine Ozigbo a frontline politician and a stalwart of Labour Party in Anambra state has bemoaned the unfortunate and tragic incident that happened over the weekend. He said that such incidence has shown how the state government values security and what they have done so far to contain insecurity in the state.

In his response from his social media handle Valentine Ozigbo said "I am compelled to express my deepest condolences to the families and victims of the senseless killings in Nibo, which occurred last Sunday. The news of this tragedy was shocking, and I can only imagine the immense pain and grief that the surviving victims and families of the deceased must be enduring. My heartfelt sympathies also go out to Ezeike Nibo, the traditional ruler of Nibo, whose domain was breached by this heinous act."

He however stated the fact that this is not the first incident of its kind is a stark reminder of the glaring inadequacies in Anambra's security architecture. He stressed that despite previous attacks, those responsible for protecting the state's citizens seem to have been indifferent, allowing the situation to escalate to this point.

He said that the recent visit by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the scene of the disaster, a full day after the incident, only serves to underscore the government's lack of urgency in addressing the security concerns of its people.

"The governor's belated visit, which was seemingly performed out of obligation rather than genuine concern, was further marred by his decision to turn a somber occasion into a casual gathering, where moi moi was shared. This insensitive display has understandably sparked widespread outrage and criticism from citizens on social media."

He however maintained that the resurgence of touts and cultism in the state, facilitated by the government's inaction and alleged collaboration, has created an environment conducive to violence and fear, as the once-thriving tourism and related businesses in the state have been destroyed, and residents now live in daily anxiety over what to expect next.

He further noted that  It is imperative, that the security infrastructure of the state should be overhauled to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.

"If the Governor is unable to provide a solution to this crisis, it is time for him to step aside. The people of Anambra cannot continue to live in fear and uncertainty. I urge the victims' families to remain hopeful for a better future, even in the face of this unimaginable tragedy. We must demand more from our leaders and work towards creating a safer, more secure Anambra for all." He concluded

Security Forces in the state through a coordinated intelligence report has bursted the camp of the unknown gunmen at Akokwa, Arondizuogu after a long gun duel which resulted to the death of some of the criminals and others arrested.
