The People's Democratic Party has re - affirmed it's readiness to ensure that it stands firm on the appeal court ruling, which stated that only confirmed names of delegates the court afirmed, will be used for the Anambra Congress.
Speaking to newsmen after a stakeholders meeting at the party's office in Awka, the committee secretary, Mr. Ndubuisi Eneh, stressed that it's important to note, that any delegate on the list, that can't be verified either with a national identification number,voters card, International passport or drivers license,will not be accredited to vote in the congress.
He said that the essence is to ensure a transparent process, and called on all stakeholders of the PDP in Anambra to support them to achieve the desire of party faithful in the state.
The electoral committee Chairman of the Anambra People Democratic party PDP's State Congress and the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mr Ifeanyi Ossai, also announced the postponement of the process which was earlier scheduled for today, Saturday, October 19th, 2024, said it was for the interest of the party faithful in the state, and to also ensure that the logistics needed for the Congress was put in place before the Congress holds at a future date that will be communicated to all party members and the general public.
Ossai made the announcement through the Committee Secretary, Mr. Ndubuisi Ene, while briefing Journalists shortly after said the postponement was to allow the committee address some challenges that may hinder fairness and transparency of the exercise.
Eneh, while commending the stakeholders for their patience, support and understanding, however, announced that the congress will now hold between Wednesday, Thursday or Friday next week.
Also in their sperate comments on the development, the acting Chairman of the party, Engr Chigozie Igwe, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, the former Minister of Women Affairs, Chief Josephine Anenih and the two chairmanship aspirants, Mr. Chidi Chidebe and Mr. Ameachi Onowu, called for a credible, free and fair congress for the sake of oneness, they also appealed to the Enugu State Governor, Mr. Peter Mbah to assist the Anambra State Chapter of the party with funds to enable the local organizing committee to organize a successful congress.
