AMAMGBO, KEYAMO, OTHERS CELEBRATE AIRPEACE AT 10

Barrister Chidi Donald Amamgbo, a prominent lawyer, oil magnate, and rising political figure, joined a distinguished group of African elites to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Air Peace, led by his fellow Ihiala native, Allen Onyema.

The celebration, held at the Eko Convention Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos, drew a notable crowd, including Nigerian dignitaries and international figures, all gathering to honour Air Peace’s growth and resilience in the aviation industry.

In an interaction with journalists, Barrister Amamgbo praised Onyema’s leadership, highlighting how it has guided Air Peace through the challenges of the industry. He expressed his pride in sharing the same local government origin with Onyema, describing the airline founder as an inspiration. Amamgbo underscored Onyema’s national contributions, applauding his commitment to Nigeria and his proactive use of the airline to support the country, particularly in critical situations. He emphasized Onyema’s ability to break industry barriers, which has brought international recognition to Nigerian airlines, and prayed for continued wisdom and success for Onyema.

Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo also addressed the attendees, commending Air Peace’s achievements. He acknowledged the difficulties airlines face in Nigeria, where longevity is rare, and celebrated Air Peace’s ability to thrive after a decade. Keyamo affirmed the government’s support for the aviation industry, announcing a milestone invitation for Nigerian operators to engage with global aircraft financiers in Ireland, marking a promising development for Nigerian aviation.

Airpeace CEO, Chief Allen Onyema expressed gratitude for the support, specifically praising President Tinubu for his efforts to improve the business climate in Nigeria. Chief Onyema urged Nigerians to adopt a more positive perspective, by challenging negative narratives about the country.

Other notable guests at the event included Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; Abia State Governor, Alex Otti; Gambia’s First Lady, Fatoumatta Bah Barrow, and former Nigerian footballer, Jay-Jay Okocha.

The evening, hosted by media personality, Ayo Mairo-Ese and comedian Bovi, paid tribute to Air Peace’s legacy as West and Central Africa’s largest carrier and one of the continent's fastest-growing airlines.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation. Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA. 2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.

The big celebration started with a High Mass lead by His Lordship Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye at St Vincent De Paul parish Uruagu Nnewi, in the mass were some dignitaries, amongst who were Dr Cletus Ibeto, His Royal Highness Igwe Kenneth Orizu ( Igwe Nnewi), Obi Uruagu his Highness Obi Charles Afamefuna Obi, Obi Nnewichi his Highness Obi George Onyekaba, Hon Chris Azubuogu, and among others. After the mass, the reception which was at Munic Classic Hotel where all dignitaries were entertained, Amb Charles Nwonye stayed briefly and left to visit and consult with the Umuada Anaedo Forum women at Obi Okpunoegbu to present his political ambition to the women.
