FLOODING: NIGERIA YOUTH ORGANIZATION COMMISERATES WITH THE PEOPLE OF BORNU, CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO ASSIST

The Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO) has reached out to the affected communities of Bornu, following the devastating floods that have ravaged the area recently. The group, led by it's National President Okorie C. Okorie, has expressed deep sympathy for the victims and called on the government to provide urgent assistance to allieavate their sufferings. 

"We are deeply saddened by the loss and destruction caused by the floods in Boruno," said Okorie. "As an organization committed to the welfare of Nigerian youths, we cannot stand idly by while our brothers and sisters suffer." He however commended the Chairman of Dangote Group for the support of over 1.5B to the state government and therefore called on the Federal government and donor agencies to assist the victims of the flood. 

The National Vice President of the group in the South East, Prince Fortune Chinonso, echoed the President's sentiments. "The situation in Borno is heartbreaking. We urge the government to take immediate action to provide relief materials, medical aid, and support to the affected communities."

RTN Achiever Ikenna Anyanwu, State Chairman of the NYO in Imo state also said that they have been at the forefront of the organization's relief efforts. "We have mobilized our members to provide volunteer services, distribute relief materials, and support the affected communities in any way possible." 

The NYO also called on the government to take proactive measures to prevent future flooding. "While we commiserate with the people of Borno, we also urge the government to invest in infrastructure and disaster preparedness," said Okorie C Okorie, the national president of the group. "This includes constructing flood defenses, improving drainage systems, and establishing early warning systems."

The organization's executive council, comprising members from state, zone, and national levels, however pledged to continue supporting the people of Borno until they recover from this disaster.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.

  The big celebration started with a High Mass lead by His Lordship Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye at St Vincent De Paul parish Uruagu Nnewi, in the mass were some dignitaries, amongst who were Dr Cletus Ibeto, His Royal Highness Igwe Kenneth Orizu ( Igwe Nnewi), Obi Uruagu his Highness Obi Charles Afamefuna Obi, Obi Nnewichi his Highness Obi George Onyekaba, Hon Chris Azubuogu, and among others. After the mass, the reception which was at Munic Classic Hotel where all dignitaries were entertained, Amb Charles Nwonye stayed briefly and left to visit and consult with the Umuada Anaedo Forum women at Obi Okpunoegbu to present his political ambition to the women.
