Rescue Aguluezechukwu Community Secondary School From Herdsmen, Armed Bandits -- Indigene Begs Soludo

BY RAYMOND OZOJI, Awka

An indigene of Aguluezechukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State and stakeholder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the area, Hon. Arch. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams, has drawn government attention to the insecurity bedeviling Aguluezechukwu Community Secondary School.

Okonkwo who expressed deep concern about the plight of the school, maintained that the school is under herdsmen and armed bandits threats because the school is not fenced to protect and secure the students, their teachers and property of the school.

Okonkwo who spoke exclusively with journalist Raymond Ozoji, lamented that due to the absence of fence to protect the teachers and students from external aggressions, herdsmen and their cattle use the school as a link road to Akpo, a neighbouring community.

He said armed bandits have not spared the school either as they steal the school property at will because they find their way into the school compound through the bush and unleash terror and mayhem on the school.

Okonkwo noted that fencing the school is the most pressing need of the school even as he appealed to the government of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to expedite actions to rescue Aguluezechukwu Community Secondary School from external aggressors.

He also disclosed that the school lacks corpers' lodge and that it is the community that is currently paying for the accommodations of the 23 corpers posted to the school.

He said it is very appalling that Community Secondary School Aguluezechukwu has about 25 plots of land unfenced making it susceptible to kidnappings, armed rubbery attacks and what have you.

The APGA chieftain who pointed out that the school is also being threatened by a gully erosion behind it, said that the new toilet facilities donated to Aguluezechukwu Community Secondary School was a welcome development but according to him, what the school needed most is security of lives and property.
