POLICE FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT, RESCUE VICTIM

The Anambra Police Command has recorded another major milestone with the rescue of a kidnap victim yesterday in Aguata LGA of the state. 

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a press release, made available to this newspaper. He said that, officers of the command responded swiftly when they got a report at about 4:30 pm on 22/5/2024 of the abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA. He said that during the hot chase by the Police team, the criminals shoved the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and drove off, while the Police in Aguata in a hot chase recovered his vehicle, a sky blue Toyota Camry. 

He commended the technology-driven and rejigged personnel and operational positioning of the anti-crime approach of the Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam who resumed recently in Anambra, which he said has continued to thwart criminal endeavors of gunmen in the state. 


The officers he said, sustained the trail on the abductors and the criminals abandoned the vehicle along Umunze road Orumba South LGA and ran into a nearby bush. He said that operations are still ongoing for the possible arrest of the hoodlums. 

Meanwhile, the victim has been debriefed and reunited with his family. 

He said that to this end, the Commissioner of Police, hails the gallantry performance, displayed by the operatives and assured Ndi Anambra that the Police and other security agencies in the state will do everything within the law to ensure they deny criminals the opportunity to foment trouble and re-group anywhere in the State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid.
