Mohbad: More troubles for Naira Marley as radio stations ban his songs, lose following on Instagram

Embattled owner of Marlian Records, Azeez Fashola, also called Naira Marley may have more troubles coming his way as some radio stations have started placing a ban on all songs from the label.

In Oyo state, Splash 105.5 FM and other other private-owned radio stations have made their opposition to music from marlian Records known to the public.

According to a Twitter post by Aderonke Adesola, a presenter at the station, the management places an indefinite ban on the songs of the CEO of Marlian Records.

She said Marley’s songs have been placed on “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) on the radio frequencies by the station’s management.

The post read: “Good evening team. In view of the sensitive nature around the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure, the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion.”

“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB ( not to be broadcast) on our station till further notice. This is with immediate effect. Thank you.”

Naira Marley, who parted ways with MohBad in 2022, has been accused of having a hand in the death of his former signee, an allegation which he denied.

In a statement he issued last week, Marley described MohBad’s death as painful.

Meanwhile in the same vein, Street pop artiste, Naira Marley, born Azeez Fashola, has lost more than half a million followers on photo and video sharing app, Instagram, one week after the mysterious death of former signee Promise ‘Mohbad’ Aloba.

As of Tuesday morning, the day of the passing of Mohbad, Naira Marley had 7.5 million followers on Instagram but the number began to drop after footages documented the series of harassment and maltreatment the deceased suffered at his hands and that of his allies, including Sammy Larry.

At least 900,000 people have unfollowed the ‘Issa Goal’ crooner as of press time on Monday, bringing the number of followers down to about six million plus in what seemed like a coordinated action by the aggrieved netizens.
