Hope Rising For Imolites, Partners Singaporean NGO, advocates for an Eco Friendly Environment.

 


..... Sets in Motion measures to empower Ndi Imo 


A non governmental organization, Hoperising for Imolites in partnership with a Singaporean NGO has set in motion moves to deploy over 20,000 eco friendly stoves for use in Imo. This project is in line with the The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) which is the leading environmental authority in the United Nations. Hoperising for Imolites in partnership with the Singaporean NGO will use its expertise to strengthen environmental standards and practices while helping to implement environmental obligations in Nigeria, starting from Imo state. 


The delegation which visited Imo College of Advanced Professional Studies ICAPS, Owerri were marvelled at the technological advancements at the agency and commended the governor of Imo state,Sen. Hope Uzodinma for it's 3R initiative which has gained traction all over the state. They promised to form a synergy with the establishment for research and training of its technologist in line with its eco friendly environmental projects. 


While interacting with our correspondent the National Leader of Hoperising for Imolites, Barr Success Akagburuonye, said that the initiative was to see how they can adopt an eco friendly environment in the state, which will in turn reduce carbon emissions and as well as better the lives of rural dwellers in the state. He said "Hoperising for Imolites have taken this bold step in furtherance of its commitment to assist the Imo state government provide an eco friendly environment for it's citizens. We are taking it a notch higher by looking at agencies of government which we can also partner with for this technology advancement, reason we are here today at ICAPS."


In his brief remarks, the Special Adviser to the governor on ICAPS, Hon Pastor Chika Emedo thanked the delegation for the visit. He stressed that ICAPS as a finishing school, will do well to ensure they key into the eco friendly environment projects of the NGO and promised to support them with technologists who are ready for research and training. He took out time to take them around the government agency, and gave out one of the oven's to the visiting team from Singapore on behalf of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma. 


The delegation also visited Chief Prince Lemmy Akakem (Okpataezuoha) at his country home in Orji Uratta, in Owerri North LGA of Imo state to pay homeage to him and to also ask for guidance on the aspect of rural penetration and awareness all over the state. The delegation led by Barr Success Akagburuonye and Mrs Ana, the Singaporean, in their interactive session with him highlighted on the major aspects of the project which will also delve into areas, of how to limit carbon emissions coming from vehicles in Owerri and it's environs. Mrs. Ann informed him that the group has already placed order for the shipment of over 20,000 of these eco friendly stoves which is expected in the country soon, and called on the government to embrace the initiative to further keep the environment clean. 


In his response Chief Lemmy Akakem, thanked them for coming to Imo state with this wonderful idea, and promised to work in partnership with them to make the project a successful one. He commended Barr Success Akagburuonye for always bringing to the fore, projects that have empowered Ndi Imo in the past without asking for government's assistance. He assured them that Senator Hope Uzodinma is a governor who has a listening ear, and is also open for innovations. He promised to take the project to the rural dwellers to enable the needed penetration.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid.
