Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his team travelled to Madrid,  Spain at the weekend to discuss the report of Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike was spotted at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa with Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Samuel Ortom (Benue). This newspaper gathered  that the PDP BOT had called on the national chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, to resign immediately after the 2023 general elections. A  PDP chieftain, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, had in an interview with newsmen said the PDP must address the complaints of Wike if it was sincere and wants peace to reign. Nwuke, who was a commissioner for information and communications in the state, told newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday: “What we know is that if the PDP is sincere; if the PDP wants peace in its midst, if the PDP wants to run as a unit, then, they will address the complaints that have been put forward.” The former lawmak...

Nigeria Will Be Worse Than Mali, Others If Nothing Changes – Sanusi

Former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has warned that if Nigeria continues with the current trend of doing things in 2023, the country should expect a plunge in the worst insecurity like the situation in Mali and Burkina Faso. According to him, it will be tough for the next president who will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 due to the present negative state of the economy. Sanusi’s caveat as a guest speaker during the 7th edition of Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KadInvest7.0) held in Kaduna yesterday is coming just as presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party, Peter Obi, reeled out their plans for Nigerians on security and the economy. Sanusi advised those who would win elections in 2023 to take unpopular decisions once they enter office to salvage the economy. The former Emir said the situation where by the cost of servicing debt in Nigeria is more than reve...

If Barcelona lose against Real, it is going to be mayhem.

Bad news for Barcelona, the two sides are neck and neck at the top of the table after an unbeaten start to a season that has seen them both drop just two points from a possible 24. Something's got to give and the clues as to where that is going to happen were there for all to see in their recent Champions League games. Real Madrid travelled to Warsaw to face Shakhtar Donetsk and needed a last-gasp header from Antonio Rudiger to snatch a point. Travelling to Poland with nine points already banked, there may well have been a slight element of complacency in their performance, as well as some squad rotation. In Barcelona, Xavi rallied the forces, describing the game as a "cup final" and for the first 45 minutes everything looked like it might go to plan. There was pressure high up the pitch, lots of crosses, shots from outside the box and players were finding each other between the lines. All was well, certainly until half-time. What could possibly go wrong? Well, as it turn...

EMEKA IHEDIOHA LETTER TO AGF LEAKED

RE: RELEASE OF NNAMDI KANU & NEGETIVE IMPLICATIONS FOR 2023 ELECTION IN THE SOUTH EAST. May I refer to the judgment of the court of appeal sitting in Abuja, which was delivered yesterday the 13th of Oct 2022. May I also refer to news in the media credited to your office, in which you clarified conflicting issues arising from the said judgment to the effect that, the judgment merely discharged Nnamdi Kalu from the charges against him but did not acquit him thereof. The implication of your position which I align with, in the interest of 2023 election and security of south east is that other options available to the FG are on the table for prompt action. In my view and humbly so, I suggest a quick move by the federal government to continue his detention, apply for stay of execution of the judgment of the court of appeal and file an appeal at the supreme Court, this will enable his continued detention legal and would reasonably guarantee peace and security in the south east towards the...
