Idemili South flags off skill acquisition training and empowerment programme for women

 


The Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs Mr. Collins Nwabunwanne has flagged off the 30 days skill acquisition training  and empowerment programme organized for 150 women of Idemmili South in the local government headquarters Ojoto.


In his speech, he congratulated the transitional chairman of Idemmili South local government area Mrs. Amaka Obi for imbibing governor Soludo's fearless and courageous attitude to work by starting this skill acquisition training.



He enjoined the students not to relent in adding up natural spices like character, good manner of approach to customers, smiles, taking of calls with utmost respect, good inter personal communication to customers in their businesses to help it grow rapidly.


"The money you are given at the end of the training exercise to start up your businesses will grow well in the business when you add humility, honesty and zeal to your business attitude." Mr. Nwabunwanne said.


He admonished the students not to waste the immediate opportunity of becoming entrepreneurs as they are the future billionaires of Anambra state.


The Commissioner of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Mr. Donatus Onyenji said that the administration of Governor Charles Soludo is so much interested in organic agriculture to help improve economy and the health of the people.



He called on the students of catering department to endeavor to use more of organic spices and ingredients for better cooking and the good of the people. 


"Think home and go back to our traditional food and way of cooking to reduce some kind of sickness existing today.


"Also, learn our cultural ways of fashion and dressing. Gov. Soludo's government believes in local content, made in Anambra products to boost our economy. We have millionaires from waste to wealth in the nylon industry,"said Onyenji.


He said that the government is thinking about creating more business avenues which Nylon production is one of them.


Mr. Onyenji told the Nylon production students that the business is so lucrative that even environmentally, that nylon has no waste because the people doing waste to wealth creation comes to buy the supposed waste for their own businesses.


The Commissioner generally adviced the students to imbibe transparency, honesty in their businesses to make Anambra proud.


In her speech, the transitional chairman of Idemmili South Mrs. Amaka Obi said that she started her career as a professional cook and still cooks till date once her official duty permits her.


She stressed that gone are the days when women are religated to the background and as such, no woman should be idol.


Mrs. Obi said that the administration of Governor Charles Soludo is so much interested in the affairs of women from the cradle, which is one of the reasons he encourages and supports ventures that uplift women.


"This program is not just about politics which people do for two days to gain popularity. It will last for a month within which assignments will be given and final examination taken at the end of the program before certification and empowerment.


"We have four departments with facilitators. Catering/decorations, Cake&Bread baking/Confectionery, Nylon production, Bead making/Cosmetics/make up/head tie designs.You must take this program seriously because I am serious about it", said Mrs Obi.


She,  therefore, admonished the skill acquisition students to utilize the existing opportunity well to make themselves happy and their families proud in future.


Prof. Kate Omenugha, a Consultant on Human Capital Development under the office of the Vice president of Nigeria said "what we are doing in Idemili South is One- woman -one -skill.This is highly commendable. It will better the economy of both Idemili South and Anambra State".


The Head Local Government Administration, Idemmili South, Mrs. Patricia Nkemdilim discouraged women from being total house wives without making any income to be able to assist themselves.


She said the essence of the skill acquisition training is to produce entrepreneurs who are financially independent to better their families and the society at large.


The Supervisory Councilor for Women Affairs, Mrs Jane Egbuko noted that as a fashion designer and event decorator she had built a duplex, bought a car and has trained her children in school ever before her appointment as a Councillor.


The APGA aspirant for ISLGA constituency, Barr. Ebuka Igwe who intended to form a Nexus between Idemili South and the State advised the learners to be deligent and also measure up with those already in the industry outside the state.


"If they do well, someone do not need to get a makeup artist from Lagos to prepare a bride for a wedding taking place in Anambra."


In their sperate speeches, the duo of Mrs Juliana Obi and Mrs. Ngozi Onwuka, Community Women leaders for Akwuukwu and Oba respectively thanked the TC Chairman for investing in the future of Idemili South women saying it will not only put food on their table but make the beneficiaries more responsible.
