Dame Irene Okwuosa memorial hospital, a world class medical facility was on the 12th of May 2022 officially opened to the general public by the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) with support from the Voom Foundation USA.
In the his welcome address, Sir Emeka Okwuosa said that the hospital was built to the glory of God and in memory of his late mother, Dame Irene Nneka Okwuosa, who as a teacher was loved by many because of her and care gor people around her when she was alive. She said that the hospital was dedicated towards alleviating the sufferings of the people with challenging medical cases.
He however stressed that it did take a substantial investment from Oilserv Group and the sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) with support from the Voom Foundation and other successful organizations whose aim and objective have been to give back to the community, Anambra and Nigeria, by offering the best sought for healthcare services, one can get any where in the world.
He further stressed that the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial hospital will provide healthcare and in particular Cardiology services which Nigerians seem for outside the country as the have the best and up to date facilities in the he country.
The multi million dollar investment with specialties in critical care management, automated surgery procedures, and possible transformation into a teaching hospital in the near future will serve as a gap towards training young talents and medical professionals in Nigeria.
He stressed that the commissioning of the medical facility has opened the way for sustainable employment and empowerment, which will create 100 full time employment, support over 500 businesses and provide healthcare to an estimated 3000 patients annually. Sir Emeka Okwuosa however thanked the governor of Anambra, His Excellency Professor Chukwuma Soludo, his friends, professional colleagues and key players who graced the occasion.
While commisionong the hospital, the governor of Anambra state Prof Charles Soludo, ably represented by his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim appreciated Sir Emeka Okwuosa for thinking home. He said that this is what Anambra needs now, and called on other Anambrians to emulate Sir Emeka Okwuosa for this marvelous project.
While taking Journalists round the facility, the general manager of the hospital, Amanda Obidike, said that the facility employs highly skilled medical experts in cardiology, nephrology, and critical care management from all over the world. He said that specialist doctors from the USA under the Voom Foundation Cardiology center has invested millions of dollars in Cardiology equipments in the form of Digital Cath Lab, high definition 128 slides CT scan, digity xtray systei, direct on bed oxygen delivery, automated ventilators, ICU unit, and state if the art theaters with modern equipment to Carter for a types of surgeries ranging from minor to supra major surgeries.
She further stated that the facility has a kidney transplant and dialysis unit, and had taken primary and tertiary health care services to the doorsteps of the people of the South East. He said this is in view towards immortalizing Dame Irene Okwuosa, who was a fearless planner and mentor to many, ad she championed the rights of women and children who had access to her.
It is however on record that the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation spent millions worth of covid-19 palliatives and medical supplies during the pandemic which was distributed across Anambra and beyond which cut across all religious and social divide in the state. The SEOF has however capped critical humanitarian mission with the facilitating medical fairs in partnership with the team from Voom, as over 3000 individuals have benefited from free drugs, free clinical exams, health talks, and outdoor checks. It's also on record that the facility has been helpful to people suffering from all manner of aliments, and has also complimented it's efforts through its corporate social responsibility to the people through the building of roads, setting up of clean water, agric Education and scholarship to the indigents in the South East.
The general manager of the hospital however stressed that the hospital had through its critical health intervention in drugs facilitated drug distribution to health centers, referral hospitals, teaching hospitals, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital NAUTH Nnewi, Iyienu Mission Hospital, Ogidi/ Nnewi Diocesan Hospy, Akwudo, and has collaborated with NAUTH Nnewi, Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Awka and Federal medical center Asaba for open heart surgeries she concluded.
