Barr. Ogechi Njoku- Ehirim, Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State and also (DG) of Hope support Groups (an umbrella body of support groups for Governor Hope Uzodimma and the Imo state APC) has paid registration fees for over 30 indigent students of public schools writing the 2022 Snior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/West African Examination Council (WAEC) in her Aboh-Mbaise constituency and neighboring Ahiazu-Mbaise Local government.
The SA who also came with gifts of Governor’s branded note books and other educational materials distributed them amongst the students and their teachers.
Barr Ogechi Njoku, during the Education Empowerment Programme at Mbaise secondary school on Friday, said that the gesture was borne out of a deep concern for the less privileged but brilliant students who could not afford the fees for such essential foundational examinations.
“I am deeply worried about the plight of intelligent indigent final year secondary school students. It is also worrisome at the high rate of drop outs amongst our younger ones in the secondary schools who could not write WAEC and SSCE”.
She restated her commitment to follow the good policies and programmes of the governor's shared prosperity agenda, that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of her constituency and the State at large.
She encouraged the students to be focused, dedicated and excel brilliantly in the forthcoming WAEC examination, assuring them that providence will not fail to smile on them in their quest to further their education .
She reflected that the gesture is a commitment to improvement on the standard of education and to reduce the burden of SSCE fees on the parents of these students.
Barr. Ogechi Njoku urged the students to be determined, focused and devote more time to academic pursuits necessary for excelling and being reliable leaders of tomorrow.
She advised the young ones to shun social vices like cultism and drug abuse, noting that the future looks very promising for them, while vices will only attract negative consequences on their lives.
Also speaking at the occasion, the principal of the host secondary school, Sir Dominic Ugomuo (KSM) thanked Barr. Ogechi Njoku for being a good ambassador of the governor of Imo State and her party, APC. He emphasized that what Barr. Ogechi has done today signifies giving back to the society and exhibition of good will.
Sir Dominic appreciated the SA and urged other privileged individuals to emulate such good gesture.
Another Principal Mrs Chioma Njoku, the principal of Nguru secondary commercial school (Orjinwambe), commended Eziada Barr Ogechi for the gesture and urged people of Aboh-Mbaise to cooperate with the governor to deliver more dividends of democracy to Aboh Mbaise people.
In an overwhelming show of appreciation, some parents of these lucky students, who spoke showered prayers and encomium on the shared prosperity government led by the Governor of Imo state distinguished Senetor Hope Uzodimma and his apostles.
In attendance were the eleven secondary school Principals in Aboh Mbaise and two from neighboring Ahiazu Mbaise LGA.
The beneficiaries were drawn from students across the twelve wards in Aboh Mbaise, whose parents couldn't afford to register them for the certificate examination before the date line.
