APGA Ward Chairmen Set to Join YPP

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ward chairmen are concluding plans to dump the party for the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to support Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah in the upcoming November 6 Anambra State governorship election.

Mr. Eneh Victor Chigozie, of the AIF Media who spoke with one of the ward chairmen leading the discussion, reported that they are leaving APGA because of injustice, neglect and high-handedness of party leaders.

The ward chairman said that it is annoying that the hijackers of APGA constituted the Campaign Organisation for their candidate, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and made U-AYA and U-AWA members ward coordinators.

His words: “Can you imagine that ward coordinators of Soludo campaign organization are U-AYA and U-AWA members. No ward chairman was deemed fit , to be made ward coordinator.”

Another angry ward chairman lamented that they did the same thing during the governorship primary election in which they used U-AYA and U-AWA members to impersonate APGA ward chairmen in many wards.

While these ward chairmen are angry that they were not used as ward coordinators for the campaign organization, the small shuttle buses which they promised to share to them for campaigns have been hijacked again.

A ward chairman from Anambra south said:

“Soludo met with ward chairmen and promised that each of them will be given a small branded shuttle bus, but surprisingly while they were waiting for the distribution of the “Keke” buses, news filtered in that it is the ward coordinators who are mainly U-AYA and U-AWA members that will get the buses.”

“Therefore, we are leaving the party for U-AYA and U-AWA to deliver him.”

When asked why they are decamping to YPP, one of the aggrieved was quoted as saying:

“APC is hated in Anambra. No one can freely go to the houses or communities to ask our people to vote for APC, so it is a hard sell.

“We will connect with Ifeanyi Ubah easily. YPP is gradually becoming the new Igbo Party.

“In fact, YPP is a new APGA, over 80% of YPP leaders and members are those who left APGA due to injustice, so we are going to reunite with them.”

It is sad that APGA has collapsed but the good news is that it is collapsing into another Igbo party, YPP.

The latest development is coming on the eve of the 50th birthday of the leader of the party, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah on Friday, September 3.

The senator has promised a low key celebration as he marks his 50th birthday.
