ANAMBRA 2021: INEC PUBLISHES NAME OF VALENTINE OZIGBO AS CANDIDATE OF PDP


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the name of  Valentine Ozigbo as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 6 election in Anambra state.


The national electoral body, in obedience to the order from the Court of Appeal granted on Friday, September 3, 2021 has now published the names of Mr Ozigbo and his running mate, Mrs Azuka Enemo as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the PDP. 


Valentine Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, which followed the inauguration of a 179-person National Campaign Council for the election by the main opposition party on Thursday. 


The event which held at the headquarters of the PDP, at Wadata Plaza in Abuja had in attendance eleven PDP governors including Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State who is the Vice Chairman of the National Campaign Council for the Anambra Poll; Governor Aminu Tambuwal, the Governor of Sokoto State, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum. 


Other top brass of the PDP who were at the event were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governors Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi; Duoye Diri of Bayelsa; Samuel Ortom of Benue; Godwin Obaseki of Edo; Govern Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu; Seyi Makinde of Oyo; Darius Ishaku of Taraba; and Aliyu Gusau, the Deputy Governor of Zamfara.

Valentine Ozigbo Resigns from Labour Party

In a shocking move, against all speculations over the last few days, Valentine Ozigbo, a close ally of Peter Obi, has announced his resignation from the Labour Party (LP). Ozigbo confirmed his decision to Diaspora Digital Media on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, but declined to provide further details, opting instead to share his reasons during an interactive session on X (Twitter) Space.  The session, scheduled for 8 PM, will feature Ozigbo in conversation with Anambra's First Son, @uchepokoye, discussing pressing issues affecting Anambra State, including security challenges, societal fabric collapse, and the hope for a better future.
