A total of 21 health institution across the six geopolitical zones on Thursday benefitted from Sir Emeka Offor Foundation 2021 National distribution of medicine/medical supplies at Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra state.
During the presentation, the Coordinator of the foundation, Sir Tony Obi said the equipment, worth approximately N1bn was distributed based on judicious use of the items by the beneficiaries after close monitoring.
He said, "Since our 18 years existence, Emeka Offor foundation, has focused on education, health and empowerment. Today is the second time we're distributing drugs to 21 selected health institutions within the six geopolitical zones.
"It has become an annual event. We're not biased, we sampled opinion of people around where the institutions were located, before distribution. We have ways of monitoring the usage and those who were judicious and didn't monitized theirs were on advantage for another round.
Obi appealed to the beneficiaries to ensure the items were judiciously distributed, expressing optimism of its multiplier effects on them.
The Managing Director of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc, Praveen Chorghade, represented by Mr Emeka Ezeh, Head of Communications EEDC, said that the benefactor, over the years ha deployed his personal resources to the benefit of mankind through numerous interventions in education, health and capacity building.
" We are most greateful to God Almighty for his blessings us with the person who has nurtured this vision, no other than the founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation,Sir (Dr) Emeka Offor."
The Head of Communications EEDC, Mr. Emeka Eze further stressed that the distribution has been consistent, adding that the gesture was in line with the coporate social responsibility of the institution.
The Chief Medical Director of University of Maidugiri Teaching hospital, Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, ably represented by Dr. Chigozie Nwobi, which is one of the benecifiary institutions, said it was the third time the institution was benefiting from the gesture following judicious use of the items received in the past.
Adding his voice,the OC Medical, Nigeria Police Force Mr. Emelike thanked the management and staff of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation for this gesture in saving human life and giving back to the society, which should be the core social responsibility of any establishment. He promised that the Nigeria Police will use the medicine and medical supplies to help those in need of such supplies.
Mrs. Ogechi Izuka who is in charge of of widows that the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation has been working with to save life's thanked the beneficiaries for coming and urged them to use the supplies to better the lot of the general public in need of such.
The highpoint of the event was the distribution of the medicines and medical supplies to 21 Federal establishments cut across the six geo Political zone of the country.
