Dr Godwin Maduka, the renowned Anambra born, US based Pain specialist has finally dumped the PDP for Accord Party ahead of the Anambra Gubernatorial election coming up on the 6th of November 2021. He made his intentions known in a world press conference held on the 11/08/2021 at his campaign office in Awka Anambra state.
Dr Maduka, a former PDP governorship aspirant under the PDP was formally received into Accord Party by the National and state executive of the party.
While addressing newsmen, Dr Maduka said that he has come to Anambra on a mission to restore sanity and trust in Goverment and governance. He said that if elected governor that his first three priorities will be to ensure financial stability of Ndi Anambra, beef up security in the state, and ensure even development of the state to the envy of others in the country.
Dr Godwin Maduka however explained that he left the PDP for his new Party Accord, because the PDP were very unserious about the Journey to Agu Awka.
He expressed disappointment over the way and manner the PDP Primaries was held, where under one day, the list of delegates changed three times, which was instrumental to him not securing the ticket of the PDP.
“I have no problem with PDP, they are still my friends, a lot of their members are now here in (Accord) with me, and I know that on election day, they will vote for me.
“I was also a sympathiser with APGA (All Progressives Grand Alliance), and I know the governor, and himself and many of them remain my friends. I decided to leave PDP and look for a party that I can work with. I know my chairman in Accord, and my chairman knows me. I decided to choose the people I can work with.
“I was already going to win the ticket of the PDP, as the Adhoc and statutory delegates were ready to vote for me, but unfortunately, the PDP decided to do selection instead of election.
He went on to stress that on the day of the primary election, PDP had to change the delegates list three times, and at the end, they disenfranchised all the Adhoc and statutory delegates and used what they called super delegates list.
“When that happened, I decided I will look for another party because the PDP did not seem to me like they were serious. It was in the process of searching for a new party that I found Accord.”
Dr Maduka also used the event to unveiled his running mate, Mr Keneth Obi, whom he described as a grassroots politician per excellence as they are geared up to return the glory of Anambra, and establish trust of the people in Goverment again.
