ANAMBRA 2021: GOVERNOR DIRI CONGRATULATES VALENTINE OZIGBO, ASSURES HIM OF HIS SUPPORT AHEAD OF NOVEMBER ELECTION

Valentine Ozigbo, the Anambra Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer for the November 2021 governorship election, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Duoye Diri.

At the meeting which held in Abuja, Governor Diri congratulated Ozigbo on his victory at the PDP primary election, pledging his unalloyed support ahead of the guber election scheduled for November 6, 2021.

Governor Diri described Mr Ozigbo as a “great businessman with a strong capacity to provide effective leadership”, urging the people of Anambra State to rally round the PDP candidate.

Governor Diri further assured Ozigbo that the PDP leadership would mobilise resources and support for him and ensure his victory at the poll.

In his remarks, Mr Ozigbo thanked Governor Diri for his warm reception, kind words, and the pledge of his support for the forthcoming election.

"Your Excellency, I am humbled by the reception I have received today. I am also grateful for your wise counsel and for promising to actively support my quest to improve the lives of my people," Ozigbo said.

"The election is not going to be a walk in the park, as the PDP is up against an incumbent state government and a candidate with the backing of the Federal Government.

“So far, we have visited all the communities in the 21 local government areas of the state and have endeared our vision to the people of Anambra. Though our chances are bright, we have to be consistent in selling our message of prosperity and transformation.

“I can not do this alone and would be relying on the support of leaders like you who have gone through the process. Together, the PDP will achieve success,” Ozigbo, a multiple award-winning global CEO, declared.

Ozigbo emerged as the PDP candidate for the Anambra governorship election on Saturday, June 26, 2021, after polling a majority of the votes at the primary election held at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka. On Wednesday, June 30, he received his certificate of return from Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the PDP, after the party's National Working Committee had certified his victory.

Valentine Ozigbo is a business mogul, philanthropist, and international sports developer. He is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, Nigeria's largest shareholder-based conglomerate.

Ozigbo is also the Chairman of Feet 'N' Tricks International, Africa's largest promoter of freestyle football. The company has the sole right to host the Nigerian Freestyle Football Championship and the African Freestyle Football Championship.
