Prof. Moguluwa, Crowned New Igwe of Nwafia Community

Nawfia community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state, has crowned Prof Shadrach Moguluwa as their new traditional ruler.

He was coronated on Friday, April 2, 2021, after a free and fair election held in the full glare of community on Friday, March 26, to select a candidate to the throne.

The new monarch replaced fomer Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, who was removed by Anambra State government under controversial circumstances.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President General of the town, Sir Nathan Enemuo,  urged the new monarch to unite every section of the community, and ensure that the town enjoyed peace throughout his reign as king.

"You're elected and crowned as traditional ruler, because, there was leadership vacuum; which nature abhors. Now that you have mounted the saddle, do everything within your power to ensure that the peace, which hitherto eluded the community for long, is restored," Enemuo said.

The new monarch, while speaking to newsmen promised to reposition the community for enhanced development.

He said: "Today, you have unanimously crowned me as your traditional ruler; you have made me king over this community; my promise is that I will not betray the trust you repose in me. I'll manage the affairs of this town with the fear of God. I'll be a leader for you, not a ruler. My reign will bring progress. My plea is that you give me every necessary support, so that collectively, we can move the town forward."

A prominent member of the community, Beluolisa Emmanuel Ikechukwu Nwafor, SAN, assured the new monarch of the support of the community.

"With the enthronement of the new monarch, there is no doubt in my mind that this community will enjoy relative peace. We are rewriting the history of our community for good. This is a sign of many good things to come," he said.
