The minister of state for education Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and his counterpart from the ministry of sports and youth development has kicked off the popular principals cup at the Agege stadium in Lagos.
The first match of the competition was between Igbobi secondary school and Goverment college kaduna. While the minister of state for education and sports and youths development were joined by the deputy governor of Edo state, H.E Philip Shaibu, Daniel Amokochi and Mary Onyali.
The Principals Cup is a football competition amongst secondary schools, aimed at fostering camaraderie and identifying local football talent at grass-root level. The Competition begins at the start of a new academic session in secondary schools and ends mid June of every year, although the Covid19 may have distorted the process. The competition is expected to harvest talents who will represent Nigeria in future competitions.
