~ Ubah Speaks At "Access More With Stanel"
~ Calls For Favourable Policies That Enable Youths Develop Their Various Potentials.
The Distinguished Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, yesterday called on both the federal and state governments to start paying deliberate attention towards putting in place favourable government policies that will enable our youths harness their various potentials.
The Senator made this statement at the mentoring event put together by Chief Stanley Uzochukwu and tagged 'ACCESS MORE WITH STANEL'
The Distinguished Senator, who recalled how a single government policy on deregulation adversely affected his multi billion Naira business few days after he had invested 200 million dollars into a business venture, however said it was all to the glory of God and his personal resilience that he was able to manage the turbulence and still standing today with his company, Capital Oil, back in his hand and his many other business concerns still waxing strong.
"It is of utmost importance to our interest as Ndi Igbo that we have in place good natured and altruistic political leaders who understand our business interests and, through government policies, drive favourable indices that will both develop and protect our interests " the Senator said.
In line with his human capital development principle, the Anambra South Senator who is also the National Leader of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), urged the Nigerian government to champion a policy framework that will regularly empower the youths to develop their various potentials.
According to the Senator, while youths are required to be diligent and law abiding, the government should always support them with policies and the enabling environment that will propel them to properly utilize their various talents. He further maintained that if the government fails to support the youths who are widely regarded as the future of tomorrow, many talents will remain underdeveloped thereby worsening the already frightening rate of unemployment challenge that the country is currently faced with
Speaking on the need for the elites and big companies to always encourage the youths, the Anambra South Senator said that what the youths need most to succeed is practical encouragement and not motivational speeches or epistles.
Consequently, he urged the elites and big companies in Anambra State and Nigeria in general to always backup their words of encouragement with financial support because bombarding the youths with epistles without any financial backup is like encouraging a fisherman to go and fish without the necessary tools that will make his outing successful.
The Anambra South Senator who had, in recent years as a private citizen, sponsored hundreds of youths to various countries of the world like England, United Arab Emirate, Egypt, China and Russia to develop and explore their various potentials, further said that financial assistance can also be given to them in form of grants or loans. He also urged the youths to remain focused and patriotic.
The YPP National leader went on to thank Chief Uzochukwu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Stanel Group, for putting the interests of the youths at heart and urged him to keep the good work up. He also reassured the youths that he will always champion the betterment of their wellbeing and development of their various potentials.
Responding to Senator Ubah's speech, Chief Uzochukwu thanked him for honouring his invitation. He further said that the Senator's speech will always serve as a great motivation in promoting the wellbeing of the youths.
Other highlight of the event include a surprise birthday package that was put in place by the Stanel Boss in honour of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim who clocked 60 same day.
The event which took place at Stanel Center Awka was attended by various dignitaries including the traditional ruler of Onitsha, His Majesty Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe; the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke; Chief Executive Officer of AirPeace Airline and member of Anambra Progressives and Development Union, Chief Allen Onyema and Chief Executive Officer of Chisco Group, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, MFR who is also a member of the Progressives. Others were Senator Victor Umeh , Hon. Obinna Chidoka , former Governor of the Central Bank, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and CEO of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka.
