NAUTH Holds Stakeholders Forum. ..... Calls for PPP in infrastructural development.

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital has organized a stakeholders meeting to address and inform the public of the progress so far in the institution. It is however happy to note that this stakeholders forum meeting is the first in the history of the institution since its inception.

In his address, at the event, the CMD of NAUTH Prof Anthony Igwegbe said that the stakeholders forum is an avenue for the institution to interact with stakeholders to ensure that the ideals for its establishment is inline with modern detects of modern health practice.

He said with Neni, Ukpo, Oba, Umunya, and Awka  annex, the hospital has expanded to ensure that health care is accessible to the people.

He stressed that the present location is temporary, as a reasonable percentage has been achieved at the permanent site of the institution at Okofia/Oraifite which has over 54 hectares, and happens to be the only tertiary health care service centre in the southeast and the south south.
Professor Igwegbe highlighted on some of the challenges as un conducive work environment, lack of adequate space, power.

He thanked the efforts of Dr Cletus Ibeto, Dr Chika Okafor, Chief Onwugbelu,  Barr Allen Onyema, Chief Uzodike, Chief Ngonadi among others who have in one way or the other contributed to the development of the hospital over the years and also asked for individuals to come in for PPP or BOT to enable the institution take off to the permanent site of the institution.

Mrs Onwuka, who is the servicon desk officer in NAUTH while presenting the draft copy of the servicon charter harped on the need for service delivery in all the affairs of the institution including the health sector, which she said is paramount to ensure that the perception the general public have about the institution is reversed.

She stressed that servicon is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that service delivery is uttermost in the life line of all institutions in the country, and promised to follow the the vision of its establishment.

She said that  with the presentation of the charter, it will become a working document after the stakeholders must have an imputed their own contribution to it.


The CMAC of NAUTH Dr Ugboaja while delivering his speech at the event stressed that the management of NAUTH has changed the fortunes of the hospital, and the trend of NAUTH being a dead zone for sick people have also changed. He called on the people at the service point to ensure that the guidelines of servicon is followed to ensure that service delivery given the best of it.

Dame Virgy Etiaba, the former Governor of Anambra state, who was physically present at the event was quick to commend the CMD Prof Igwegbe for his thoughtfulness in calling for a stakeholders forum to ensure that things are put aright at NAUTH.

She therefore called on well meaning individuals to come and help in the development of the institution, because NAUTH still remains there baby.

The traditional ruler of Oraifite, Dr Dan Udeorji stressed on the issue of land contributions by his community and called on the management of NAUTH to ensure that the community is carried along in the scheme of things.
The stakeholders forum had in attendance the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Dr K.O Orizu ably represented by Obi Nnewichi, community leaders, health care practitioners from the institution, patients, representatives from the federal ministry of health and the general public.

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid.
