The race to Agboedo Market election has taken another dimension, as Comrade Chukwudi Ulasi a top contender to the chairmanship position and his executive today flagged off their campaign to pilot the affairs of the market for another four years.
Comrade Chukwudi Ulasi while flagging off the campaign, enumerated his 13 points agenda which will be to redirect the affairs of the market and position the market to greater heights.
He said his agenda will be to construct the two major entrance roads leading into the market and renovate the small roads in all the zones, including ogbo-ogwu,Okirika,Oduigbo,Akpakara-dimgwon, provision and provision lines to tame the evasive erosion and pot holes in the market.
He stressed that its long over due for a proper parking space in the market to allow free flow of traffic in the market.
He also promised to install a standard transformer to ensure adequate power supply in the market.
He emphasized that he will task the government to rehabilitate the solar powdered borehole in the market and channel the clean water to all sections of the market.
Comrade Chukwudi Ulasi also promised to provide adequate security of lives and property in the market to safe guide traders and their goods, while also promising to unite elected officers and various zonal leaders towards achieving the desired results in Agboedo market.
He said if elected he will work hand in glove with the state government to protect the interest of traders in the market.
He lamented the absence of a fire station in the market and stressed on the need to position a fire service station in the market to help address an unforseen fire outbreak in the market.
Comrade Christian Ubaezuonu, the Secretary of Solution Group, which is the party Comrade Chukwudi Ulasi is running with, while interacting with newsmen said they have come to remedy the rot in the market and also position the market to greater heights.
He opined that if elected, they will work in agreement with traders in the market to right some of the wrongs that the market has witnessed in the recent past.
He called on traders in the market to support their vision to reposition the market to take its place as the biggest and most viable market in Nnewi.
He therefore called on the government of Anambra state to conduct a free and fair election in the market.
He thanked traders in the market for the love they have shown solution group, and extend it on the 30th of 2019 without fear or favour.
In the same vein, the Vice Chairmanship candidate of the group, Lady Nancy Ifebi, thanked traders in the market for the support shown them and tasked women in the market to come out enmasse and vote for change of leadership that will favour the interest of women in the market as the market is dominated by women.
He tasked them to stand their ground to forestall the unwanted intimidation women faced in the immediate past administration and promised to carry the women along in all decisions that affect their interest in the market.
Adding his voice, the treasurer designate, Comrade Nnanyelu Michael Mary Anazor, said the time to make the required change in the market is now.
He said that with Solution Group at the helm of affairs in the market, traders in the market will have a new lease of life, which will encourage accountability in every instance.
He promised that with the group at the helm of affairs, the required government presence in the market will be achieved.
He therefore called on the traders to close ranks to ensure that a government that has their interest in the market is elected to serve them.
Concluding, a member of the board of trustees, Agboedo market, Gabriel Sailor Okonkwo thanked traders in the market for the support they have shown Comrade Chukwudi Ulasi and the solution group, and asked them to come out in their numbers to vote for them in the upcoming election in the market so that the desired change in the market will be sustained for the interest of all.
He stressed that traders in the market should not shy away from their responsibility of voting on election day, as no form of intimidation will be condoned on election day.
