FUNMDA PRESIDENT DIES MYSTERIOUSLY AS FUNMDA’S ELECTION IS SUSPENDED PENDING BURIAL OF ITS LATE PRESIDENT
The Fairly Used and New Motorcycle dealers association(FUNMDA) in Nnewi was thrown into panic as its chairman, Sir Victor Oguama, was reported to have died, without having any aliment last Friday morning, which sent shivers down the spine of fellow traders in the market.
In an emergency meeting conducted on Monday morning to officially inform traders in the market of the development, Chief Dozie Akudolu (Iroko) the Vice Chairman of South East Amalgamated traders association said that the constitution of FUNMDA, abhors vacuum, and that, was what necessitated the meeting.
He said the Vice President of (FUNMDA) Mr. Paul Uchedife, has been mandated by the constitution of the association to take over as acting president pending the election of another president. He therefore as the apex market leader present, suspended the election and its process, until the late President Sir Victor Oguama is laid to rest.
He also called on traders in the market to ensure that they put in their quota towards the burial of their late president as he died in active service, as he also promised the support of the traders in the south during his burial. He urged traders in the market to note that government has abolished illegal levies and called on them to report anyone who still goes on to extort people in the market to constituted authority for appropriate action.
Speaking further, on the matter, Ichie Ken Maduakor, a major stake holder in the market, stressed of the need for the traders in the market to give the Acting President, the required support, which they did give to the immediate past president, to move the market forward.
In the same vein, the President, Nnewi Traders Association, (NTA) Chief Muozuoe regretted the sudden demise of their colleague and brother. He called on the traders in the market, to support the new acting president who will preside over the affairs of the association pending election in the market.
While speaking to Nigerian Notch, the new Acting President of (FUNMDA) Paul Uchedife, lamented the sudden death of his boss, whom he said, was administratively a guru by all standards. He promised that the wife and children of the deceased will be properly taken care of, and called on traders in the market to give him the needed support to move the market forward.
