Nnewi Catholic Diocese Holds 2nd Diocesan Synod

The catholic diocese of Nnewi has celebrated its second Diocesan synod, tagged living the faith, in justice, peace and reconciliation in the catholic diocesan of Nnewi, with reference to Matthew 5:13-14 “ you are the salt of the earth..... You are the light of the world.
In his homily the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Dr Valerian Okeke thanked God for making it possible, for the catholic diocese of Nnewi to celebrate its second synod, an event which is usually takes place every ten years.
He thanked clergy and the laity of the diocese for their support all these years and prayed that God should guide and protect them in their various endeavors towards the development of the church in Nnewi.
His lordship, thanked the governor of Anambra state, Dr Willie Obiano, who was visibly present at the occasion, for the good works he has been doing in the state, especially in the area of security, and asked him not to relent.
The Bishop, prayed that God should give him the wisdom and forth right to pilot the affairs of the state towards the path of glory.
Bishop Okeke, also used the synod to thank Chief Allen Onyema, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Airline, whose benevolence he said knows no bounds. He prayed that as he gives to the people and the needy in society, so would God be replenishing him with long life. Chief Allen Onyema donated the sum of N22,000,000. 00 naira for the development of projects that are ongoing in the church.
Continuing, Bishop Valerian Okeke, stressed that the synod according to the Pope Francis was to help humanity, and urged the rich in the society to help the poor, for a better society. He stressed that with the growing number priest  in the diocese, which has reached over 400, with 140 cathectics, and over 270 parishes,  there was need to build a seminary where they would be trained.
In his keynote address at the synod, the governor of Anambra state, said that his support to the church is not negotiable, as the  church has remained in the fore front of spiritual upliftment of the people. The governor suggested that the synod should be held once every year, to further brain storm on the needs of the church. He called on the catholic diocese of Nnewi to pray for the government of Anambra state and Nigeria, and assured of his government’s commitment to the overall development of the church in the area.
The chairman of the occasion, Chief Barrister Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace Airline, thanked the catholic diocese of Nnewi for the honor done him, by adopting him as the chairman for the 2nd synod of the diocese. He stated that he has created a separate account for the church, which is meant for the works of charity for the sustenance of humanity. He urged other well meaning individuals to help the needy in society, as that is the only means and way they can please God. Others that donated to for the building of the seminary project are Sir Louis Onwegbelu, Chief Ernest Obiora, Dr Cletus Ibeto, amongst many other people too numerous to mention.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. Prominent Leaders Pay Tribute to Late Sen Ifeanyi Ubah, at Anambra Community Candlelight Procession in Awka
